Former Millwall and Nottingham Forest midfielder joins Orange County SC

Midfielder Liam Trotter has joined Orange County Soccer Club.

The 30-year-old has joined the American second tier side from League One outfit AFC Wimbledon, as confirmed by their official club website.

Having made the move, Trotter has said: “I’m really happy to be joining the club. It’s an exciting new challenge and an opportunity for me to experience soccer and life in a new country. I can’t wait to get started and to be apart of the progression and growth of OCSC.”

Trotter is a vastly experienced midfielder and has played over 300 games in his career. He started out at Ipswich Town and had early loan spells at Millwall, Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United.

He made his move to Millwall permanent in 2010 and spent four years at The Den before moving to Bolton Wanderers.

Trotter helped the Trotters gain promotion to the Championship in 2016 and also had a brief loan stint at Nottingham Forest during his time in the North-West. He joined Wimbledon in 2017 and has been there since.

Moving to Orange County, who are based in California, is a new challenge for Trotter. The USL Championship side is also home to two other Englishmen, former Brentford and Stevenage midfielder Charlie Adams and ex-Brentford, Rangers and Wimbledon winger Harry Forrester.

Richard Chaplow, formerly of Southampton, Millwall and Doncaster Rovers, is their assistant manager as well.
